Taxon description
Gatunek prawdopodobnie kosmopolityczny, szeroko rozpowszechniony w Palearktyce, w Europie docierający do skrajnych północnych prowincji Skandynawii, notowany poza tym z Azorów, Madery, Wysp Kanaryjskich, wschodniej Indii, Australii, Nowej Zelandii i Ameryki Południowej. W Polsce dość często spotykany, ale nie znany jeszcze z wielu krain. Pospolity zarówno na niżu, jak i w górach, gdzie dociera do górnej granicy lasu. Poławiany we wszelkiego rodzaju gnijących materiałach.
