Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1980:
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony od Wysp Brytyjskich, południowej części Fennoskandii i Karelskiej SRR przez całą środkową Europę aż do Pirenejów, północnych Włoch i Siedmiogrodu. W Polsce prócz wysokich gór prawdopodobnie występuje w całym kraju. Zamieszkuje gniazda ptasie, zakładane zarówno w dziuplach drzew, jak i na otwartych terenach. Spotykany również w sąsiedztwie gniazd pod obluźnioną korą, przy wyciekającym soku z pni drzew oraz w gnijących hubach.
