Gatunek kosmopolityczny.
U nas holocykliczny i różnodomny. Migruje ze śliw — Prunus domestica L. na rośliny złożone — Solidago virga-aurea L., Erigeron canadensis L., Helichrysum arenarium (L.) Moench, Anthemis tinctoria L., Achillea millefolium L., Tripleurospermum inodorum (L.) Schultz-Bip., Tanacetum vulgare L., Artemisia vulgaris L., Senecio vulgaris L., Senecio vernalis W. K., Echinops L. sp., Centaurea cyanus L., rzadziej na inne — Rosa canina L., Myosotis palustris (L.) Nathorst. Notowany jako wektor licznych chorób wirusowych.
