Gatunek zamieszkujący południową, zachodnią i środkową część Europy oraz Europę południowo-wschodnią. W Europie Środkowej występuje w południowej i środkowej części, zasiedlając ciepłe stanowiska. W Polsce znany dotychczas tylko z dwu okazów, znalezionych około 1900 r. w okolicy Krakowa przez M. Rybińskiego (M. Mazur, 1983). Omawiany gatunek nie został zaliczony do fauny krajowej przez S. Smreczyńskiego (1972), który przypuszczał, że okazy dowodowe były mylnie zaetykietowane. Mimo opinii S. Smreczyńskiego występowanie B. (B.) creutzeri Germ. jest obecnie możliwe w południowej części kraju, gdyż znany jest z sześciu stanowisk na Słowacji (Roubal 1941). Występuje na ciepłych zboczach oraz nasłonecznionych brzegach lasów. Żyje na klonie polnym — Acer campestre L. Postacie dojrzałe pojawiają się w maju na kwiatach. W lipcu i sierpniu larwy żerują w nasionach, w których przepoczwarczają się. Młode imagines wydobywają się przez otwór, wygryziony w bocznej ścianie nasienia; zimują w glebie lub w ściółce.
