Gatunek zamieszkujący środkową i południową część Europy, Afrykę Północną, Azję Mniejszą i Kaukaz. W Polsce chrząszcz pospolity, zasiedlający cały obszar kraju prócz wyższych partii górskich. Rozwój larwalny odbywa w nasionach różnych gatunków wyk — Vicia L.
