Taxon description

Prószyński et Staręga 1971:

Podgatunek nominatywny znany jest z prawie całej Palearktyki (bez północnej Afryki). Na Półwyspie Bałkańskim zastępuje go drugi podgatunek, Callobius claustrarius balcanicus (Drensky, 1940). Żyje pod kamieniami w wilgotnych i cienistych lasach. Częściej spotykany na Wyżynach i w niższych partiach gór.
