Taxon description
Gatunek zamieszkujący z wyjątkiem skrajnych części północnych, prawie całą Europę, notowany również z Zakaukazia. W Polsce występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze, chociaż dotychczas wykazywany był tylko z połowy wszystkich krain, lokalnie niekiedy dość często spotykany. Według G. Polentza (1938) omyłkowo wykazany z Lasowic Małych na Śląsku Górnym (W. Kolbe 1927) na podstawie błędnie oznaczonych okazów Catops fuscus (Panz.). Znajdowany w norach drobnych ssaków, w przedsionkach jaskiń i na padlinie.
