Rzadko spotykany gatunek europejski, znany dotychczas z Jugosławii, Włoch, Francji, Szwajcarii, Belgii, Anglii, Danii, Szwecji, Niemiec, Polski, Austrii i Węgier. W Polsce notowany z nielicznych stanowisk rozproszonych w różnych częściach kraju. Omyłkowo wykazany z rezerwatu Łąka Sulistrowicka koło Sobótki (Petryszak i Mazur 1981), odnośne okazy dowodowe należą do Apion (C.) penetrans Germ. (A. Kuśka*). Bionomia tego chrząszcza słabo poznana. Postacie dojrzałe poławiano przeważnie na chabrze łąkowym — Centaurea jacea L. i chabrze driakiewniku — C. scabiosa L.
