Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1992:
Gatunek rozmieszczony w Europie od Wysp Brytyjskich, Danii i południowych obszarów Fennoskandii do krajów śródziemnomorskich, notowany ponadto z Algierii, Azji Mniejszej, środkowej i wschodniej Azji. W Polsce prócz wysokich gór prawdopodobnie występuje wszędzie, ale brak jeszcze danych z kilku krain. Larwa żeruje i odbywa rozwój w dolnej części łodygi, szyi korzeniowej i korzeniu popłocha pospolitego — Onopordon acanthium L., postać dojrzała spotykana poza tym na różnych ostach i chabrach, jak oset zwykły — Carduus nutans L., ostrożeń polny — Cirsium arvense (L.) Scop., ostrożeń lancetowaty — C. lanceolatum (L.) Scop., ostrożeń warzywny — C. oleraceum (L.) Scop., chaber kolący — Centaurea calcitrapa L. i chaber driakiewnik — C. scabiosa L.
