Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1983:

Gatunek północnopalearktyczny, rozmieszczony prawie w całej Europie, na północ sięgający mniej więcej do 63° szerokości geograficznej, na wschód przez Syberię docierający do Mongolii i Chin północno-zachodnich. W Polsce z wyjątkiem wyższych partii górskich występuje na całym obszarze, z niektórych krain jeszcze nie notowany. Cykl rozwojowy trwa około dwu lat. Larwy żerują w murszejącym drewnie, głównie w dziuplach w dolnej części pni drzew liściastych, niekiedy również w glebie próchnicznej przy szyi korzeniowej drzew lub wśród korzeni bylin na ciepłych stanowiskach. Postacie dorosłe występują od kwietnia do września, poławiane są, zwłaszcza w czerwcu i lipcu, na kwiatach krzewów i drzew oraz roślin zielnych, przeważnie baldaszkowatych. Odbywa loty w dni słoneczne.
