Taxon description
Szelegiewicz 1968:
Szeroko rozmieszczony w całej zachodniej Palearktyce po jezioro Bajkał i Mongolię; zawleczony do Ameryki Północnej.
Gatunek holocykliczny i jednodomny. Wiosną żeruje na gałązkach i młodych pędach, latem na liściach topoli czarnej — Populus nigra L. i topoli włoskiej — Populus italica Mnch. Kolonie tej mszycy odwiedzane są zawsze przez mrówki.
