Taxon description
Gatunek obejmujący zasięgiem południową i środkową część Europy, docierający na północ do Wysp Brytyjskich, Danii i południowej Szwecji, wykazywany z Algierii, Maroka, Kaukazu i Azji Mniejszej. W Polsce notowany z nielicznych stanowisk w zachodniej i południowej części kraju. Żyje na dębie szypułkowym — Quercus robur L., dębie bezszypułkowym — Q. sessilis Ehrh. i dębie omszonym — Q. pubescens Willd. Postacie dojrzałe pojawiają się na drzewach w maju i przeżywają do września. Larwy żerują w żołędziach, we wrześniu przemieszczają się do gleby, gdzie zimują; przepoczwarczają się w kwietniu lub maju. Część larw może przeleżeć w glebie do następnego roku.
