Gatunek rozsiedlony w Europie od Wysp Brytyjskich, Danii i południowych obszarów Fennoskandii po kraje śródziemnomorskie, wykazywany poza tym z Algierii, zachodniego Kazachstanu oraz Irkucka. Gatunek pospolity w Polsce na całym niżu i w niższych położeniach górskich. Występuje na polach, łąkach, przydrożach, w lasach i zaroślach. Jako rośliny żywicielskie w piśmiennictwie podawane były: powszechnie uprawiany bób — Vicia faba L., ponadto wyka ptasia — Vicia cracca L., wyka płotowa — V. sepium L., wyka długożagielkowa — V. tenuifolia Roth, wyka kosmata — V. villosa Roth i wyka zaroślowa — V. dumetorum L. Bionomia tego chrząszcza nie jest dokładnie poznana.
