Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1986b:

Gatunek opisany z Japonii, skąd przypuszczalnie był importowany do Europy, ale jak się wydaje, nigdzie tutaj na stałe nie zaaklimatyzował się; notowano go ponadto z Ameryki Północnej. W Europie wykazywany z nielicznych stanowisk w Holandii, na Węgrzech, w Dalmacji, Grecji. W Polsce znany tylko z Cieszyna, prawdopodobnie na podstawie zawleczonych okazów. W związku z tym nie zalicza się omawianego gatunku do chrząszczy krajowych. Wymagania środowiskowe nie są znane; w Europie poławiano go w piwnicach, mieszkaniach i drogeriach.
