Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1980:
[KFP 1625: Gyrohypnus angustatus] Gatunek szeroko rozprzestrzeniony w prawie całej Palearktyce z wyjątkiem skrajnych części północnych. W Polsce dość pospolity w środowiskach synantropijnych, ale stosunkowo rzadko wykazywany. Występuje na terenach otwartych i leśnych, na pobrzeżach wód, pod rozkładającymi się szczątkami roślinnymi, ekskrementami, nawozem, grzybami, napływkami i opadłym listowiem.
Burakowski et al. 2000:
[KFP 5796 (1628c): Gyrohypnus scoticus] Dotychczas gatunek mało znany, gdyż zwykle nie odróżniany od podobnego zewnętrznie Gyrohypnus angustatus Steph. W kluczu do oznaczania chrząszczy środkowoeuropejskich (1964) nie był notowany. Od niedawna wykazywany z Fennoskandii, Karelii, Estonii, Łotwy, Litwy, Polski i Niemiec. W Polsce stwierdzony w siedmiu krainach. Występuje w ogrodach, na polach, pastwiskach, miejscach ruderalnych, pobrzeżach lasu i wód. Poławiany pod gnijącymi liśćmi i grzybami, w kompoście i nawozie oraz gniazdach kreta.
