Taxon description
Szeroko rozmieszczony na obszarach nizinnych i podgórzach w prawie całej Europie (nie znany na północy z Norwegii), na wschód sięga do Leny na Syberii, notowany również z północnej Afryki, Azji Mniejszej i Kaukazu. Występuje na miejscach suchych, słabo ocienionych niezbyt wysoką roślinnością. Lubi jałowe gleby piaszczyste, niekiedy z niewielką domieszką próchnicy.
