Taxon description
Gatunek zamieszkujący środkową i wschodnią Europę oraz północną część południowej Europy, notowany nadto z Kaukazu, Syberii i Japonii. W Polsce rzadko i pojedynczo spotykany. Omyłkowo wykazany przez T. Trellę (1926) z okolic Przemyśla na podstawie błędnego oznaczenia Harpalus (Harpalus) tardus (Panz.) (J. Makólski*). Warunki ekologiczne słabo poznane. Znajdowany między korzeniami traw na otwartych terenach, występuje również w jasnych lasach.
