Prawie kosmopolityczny; prawdopodobnie nie występuje w Ameryce Południowej i na Dalekim Wschodzie oraz w południowo-wschodniej Azji.
Gatunek holocykliczny i różnodomny. Migruje z wiciokrzewów — Lonicera xylosteum L., Lonicera caprifolium L. na różne rośliny baldaszkowate — Peucedanum oreoselinum (L.) Moench, Pastinaca sativa L., Conium maculatum L., Chaerophyllum bulbosum L. Na wiciokrzewie powoduje powstawanie charakterystycznych deformacji liści na końcach pędów.
