Gatunek rozsiedlony głównie w środkowej Europie, poza tym notowany z kilku południowych prowincji Szwecji i Finlandii oraz z Syberii. Spotykany przeważnie na terenach nizinnych w różnego typu wodach stojących i wolno płynących.
