Gatunek występujący głównie w południowej i środkowej części Europy, podawany też z Kaukazu, Azji Mniejszej i południowej Syberii. Z Polski notowany tylko jeden raz przed przeszło stu laty z dwu stanowisk na Śląsku Górnym, dlatego też występowanie omawianego gatunku w naszym kraju wymaga dalszych badań. Możliwe również, że wzmianka E. Reittera (1870) opierała się na doniesieniu J. Rogera (1856) odnoszącego się do innego gatunku — L. serricorne (F.). Bionomia i cykl rozwojowy nie są znane. W Słowacji uważany za gatunek ciepłolubny, zasiedlający tereny stepowe. Postacie dojrzałe poławiano na ostach.
