Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1976:
Gatunek szeroko rozprzestrzeniony w południowej i środkowej Europie oraz południowej części północnej Europy, notowany też z Kaukazu i Azji Mniejszej. Choć powszechnie uważany za najpospolitszy gatunek omawianego rodzaju, z Polski stosunkowo rzadko wykazywany. Wzmianka G. Seidlitza (1888) o występowaniu w „Prusach Wschodnich" odnosi się do okolic Królewca (RFSRR). Występuje głównie na terenach nizinnych i pagórkowatych, gdzie był poławiany w strefie przybrzeżnej różnego rodzaju wód stojących.
