Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1981:
Gatunek europejski, rozmieszczony od południowej części Anglii i Fennoskandii oraz Karelskiej ASRR przez całą środkową część Europy aż do Hiszpanii, Włoch, Jugosławii i Siedmiogrodu. W Polsce spotykany rzadko i sporadycznie, a większość danych o rozmieszczeniu oparta jest na znaleziskach z ubiegłego stulecia. Ten żyworodny kusak zamieszkuje nasłonecznione miejsca na suchych terenach piaszczystych, gdzie występuje w gniazdach mrówek z rodzaju Formica L., głównie F. sanguinea Latr. Trudny do złowienia, gdyż przebywa zwykle głęboko w gniazdach, niekiedy tylko spotykany jest w sąsiedztwie gniazd pod kamieniami.
