Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony od południowej części Europy północnej aż do Pirenejów, południowego Tyrolu, Bośni, Siedmiogrodu i Ukrainy; notowany ponadto z Algierii. W miarę posuwania się z północy na południe areału gatunkowego jest coraz rzadziej spotykany. W Polsce znany tylko z trzech stanowisk, przy czym wzmianki o występowaniu w Pucku opierają się na danych sprzed przeszło 120 lat, toteż zasiedlenie Pobrzeża Bałtyku wymaga potwierdzenia dalszymi badaniami. Stosunkowo niedawno został odkryty w Puszczy Białowieskiej — z larw znalezionych 11 X 1966 wyhodowano postacie dojrzałe w marcu 1967 (leg. et cult. B. Burakowski). Występuje najczęściej w starych drzewostanach dębowych na zacienionych stanowiskach. Rozwija się w miękkim, biało butwiejącym drewnie grubych gałęzi i złomów drzew liściastych. Larwy notowano z drewna dębów, buków, olch, wierzb, jesionów, brzóz, topoli, jarzębiny, leszczyny i świerka. Postacie dojrzałe są poławiane od drugiej połowy maja do czerwca na drzewach żywicielskich i w zaroślach pod drzewami.
