Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1997:

Gatunek europejski, rozmieszczony od Francji poprzez Europę Środkową po zachodnią Ukrainę. Występuje prawdopodobnie w całej Polsce (Smreczyński 1974), ale nie jest jeszcze notowany z wielu krain. Spotykany na wilgotnych łąkach, pobrzeżach wód i w rowach. Bionomia i cykl rozwojowy tego ryjkowca nie są poznane. Poglądy na rośliny żywicielskie są bardzo różne. H. Wagner (1944b) sądzi, że jest monofagiem żywokostu lekarskiego — Symphytum officinale L., A. Hoffmann (1954) podaje jako rośliny żywicielskie jasnotę białą — Lamium album L. i jasnotę czerwoną — L. purpureum L., a W. Eichler (1949) mak lekarski — Papaver somniferum L. Żyje na pewno na Symphytum officinale L. — larwy żerują w środkowej i górnej części łodygi, po kilka larw w jednej łodydze (P. Chmielarz*). Pozostałe wymienione rośliny są z pewnością błędne, jak wiele innych danych biologicznych A. Hoffmanna (M. Wanat*).
