Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1986a:

Gatunek południowo-palearktyczny, zawleczony też do Ameryki Południowej. W Europie zwartym zasięgiem obejmuje południową i zachodnią część kontynentu, na północ dociera rozproszonymi stanowiskami do Danii oraz do trzech południowych prowincji Szwecji dokąd prawdopodobnie został zawleczony. W Polsce występuje lokalnie, dotychczas wykazany tylko z 7 krain. Spotykany wśród rozkładających się szczątków roślinnych, w sianie i w słomie w stajniach, stodołach i szopach, zwłaszcza kiedy są one zasiedlone przez myszy. Znajdowany poza tym pod korą drzew iglastych.
