Europa, Zakaukazie, Azja Środkowa, Ameryka Północna.
Gatunek holocykliczny i różnodomny. Migruje z porzeczek — Ribes rubrum L., Ribes nigrum L., Ribes grossularia L., Ribes alpinum L. i Ribes aureum Pursh, na różne rośliny z rodziny złożonych — Hieracium pilosella L., Hieracium aurantiacum L., Hieracium Lanchenalii Gmel., Crepis tectorum L., Lactuca serriola Torner, Lapsana communis L. i trędownikowate — Veronica arvensis L., Veronica Dillenii Cr. i Veronica officinalis L. Notowany jako wektor chorób wirusowych.
