Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1986c:
Gatunek występujący niemal na całej kuli ziemskiej, w Europie sięgający daleko poza koło podbiegunowe. W Polsce, prócz wyższych partii górskich, występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze. Występuje na suchej padlinie, kościach, skórach i innych odpadkach pochodzenia zwierzęcego, na których żywi się larwami skórników i owadów padlinożernych. Był notowany również z chodników drążonych przez spuszczela — Hylotrupes bajulus (L.).
