Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1997:
Szeroko rozprzestrzeniony gatunek w prawie całej Europie, sięgający na północ daleko poza koło podbiegunowe, a na wschód po Syberię, Azję Środkową i Bliski Wschód. Zasiedla ogrody, polany, pastwiska, przychacia i olszyny. Żyje wyłącznie na pokrzywie zwyczajnej — Urtica dioica L. Samice składają jaja w maju-czerwcu na korzenie, gdzie larwy żerują w krótkich chodnikach, rzadziej w szyi korzeniowej, zwykle po kilka razem; na przepoczwarczenie przemieszczają się do gleby w pobliżu korzeni. Młoda generacja pojawia się w lipcu.
