Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1978:
Gatunek rozsiedlony głównie w północnej i środkowej Europie, na południe sięgający do Francji, północnych Włoch, Jugosławii, Rumunii i Ukraińskiej SRR. W Polsce rzadko spotykany, notowany z nielicznych rozproszonych stanowisk. Zamieszkuje gniazda ptaków, zwłaszcza w dziuplach drzew, niekiedy spotykany w mrowiskach.
