W Polsce gatunek szklarniowy, w krajach o klimacie ciepłym rozpowszechniony w wolnej przyrodzie. Występuje na liściach roślin, między innymi na Monstera deliciosa Liemb., gatunkach z rodzaju Phoenix L. i Strelitzia Ait.
