Taxon description
Heintze 1990:
Najrzadszy z trzech blisko spokrewnionych, podanych w atlasie gatunków rodzaju Noctua, pojawia się w pocz. VII i lata do końca IX. Gąsienice, jasnoszare z czarnymi plamami na ostatnim segmencie, żerują na roślinach zielnych jesienią i po przezimowaniu wiosną. Oprzęd budują w ziemi i zamieniają się w poczwarki o dość zmiennej barwie — od czerwonobrązowych do brązowożółtych.
