Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1983:
Gatunek rozmieszczony głównie w południowej części Europy oraz wyspowo w Europie Środkowej, gdzie jest sporadycznie i rzadko spotykany. Notowany poza tym z Maroka, Azji Mniejszej, Zakaukazia, Syrii, Mezopotamii i Arabii. W Polsce pewne stanowiska leżą w południowej części kraju, dane z okolic Inowrocławia i Warszawy są prawdopodobnie wynikiem błędnego oznaczenia okazów (Stebnicka 1976). Zasiedla suche, nasłonecznione miejsca o charakterze kserotermicznym na terenach piaszczystych i lessowych. Pojawia się od połowy kwietnia do końca września w ekskrementach bydlęcych, końskich i ludzkich, a nawet na padlinie.
