Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1976:
Pospolity, szeroko rozmieszczony gatunek w prawie całej Europie (prócz północnej części Fennoskandii), na południe sięgający do północnej Afryki, a na wschód do Syberii, Kaukazu i Azji Mniejszej. Na obszarze swego zasięgu tworzy kilka podgatunków, w Polsce występuje podgatunek nominatywny na terenach nizinnych i podgórskich. Żyje w wodach bieżących oraz w strefie przybrzeżnej jezior.
