Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1981:
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w południowej, zachodniej i środkowej części Europy, notowany również z Maroka i Kaukazu. W Polsce znany z nielicznych stanowisk, przy czym J. Gerhardt (1887) wykazał omawiany gatunek pod nazwą Oxypoda misella Kraatz z napływek nad Kaczawą, ale później (1896) wyraził opinię, że nie należy on do fauny Śląska. Również według W. Kolbego (1921b) wzmianki J. Gerhardta (1910) o występowaniu na Śląsku oparte są na błędnie oznaczonych okazach. Wobec powyższych opinii dawne wzmianki z innych krain sprzed przeszło stu lat budzą wątpliwości i występowanie Oxypoda ferruginea Er. na naszych ziemiach powinno być potwierdzone nowymi materiałami. Kusak ten zamieszkuje pobrzeża wód, pola uprawne, lasy, wrzosowiska, wydmy nadmorskie, doły po wybranym piasku lub żwirze. Poławiany pod gnijącymi szczątkami roślinnymi, wśród mchów i pod napływkami.
