Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1993:
Gatunek środkowoeuropejski, rozsiedlony od Renu po Siedmiogród. W Polsce notowany głównie ze środkowej i południowej części kraju. Zamieszkuje lasy iglaste, zwłaszcza drzewostany sosnowe. Żyje głównie na sośnie zwyczajnej — Pinus silvestris L., rzadziej na świerku — Picea Dietr. i jodle — Abies Mill. Imago żeruje na igłach, wygryzając na nich szczerby. Samica od końca kwietnia do połowy czerwca składa jaja, po 10-50 sztuk, między dwie igły, które spaja razem wydzieliną; larwy wylęgają się po pięciu tygodniach i spadają na glebę, w którą wdrażają się i żerują na korzeniach.
