Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1985:

Gatunek znany głównie z Europy południowej, notowany poza tym z nielicznych rozproszonych stanowisk w Austrii, na Węgrzech, Słowacji, Morawach, Kaukazie, w Ukraińskiej SRR oraz, jako odrębne podgatunki, z Azji Mniejszej, Mezopotamii, północnego Iranu i Turkmenii. Występowanie w Polsce wymaga potwierdzenia nowymi znaleziskami, gdyż notowany był tylko z dwu krain na podstawie pierwszych doniesień pochodzących sprzed przeszło stu lat, przy czym «Beskid Wschodni» oznacza w tym przypadku najprawdopodobniej pasma górskie znajdujące się obecnie poza granicami Polski (Gorgany, Czarnohora). Larwy żyją w korzeniach drzew owocowych. W południowo-wschodniej części Europy notowany jako szkodnik uszkadzający liście i pąki jabłoni.
