Szelegiewicz 1968:
Szeroko rozmieszczony w całej Palearktyce.
Gatunek holocykliczny i jednodomny. Żyje w szczelinach kory pnia i gałęzi topoli czarnej — Populus nigra L. i topoli włoskiej — Populus italica Mnch. oraz topoli białej — Populus alba L. Jest to jedyny europejski gatunek, którego pokolenie różnopłciowe jest uskrzydlone.
