Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1979:

Gatunek zamieszkujący głównie w środkowej i północnej Europie, w Fennoskandii sięgający daleko poza koło podbiegunowe, a na południe do Włoch i Jugosławii. W Polsce występuje na terenach nizinnych i w niższych położeniach górskich. Spotykany w dziuplach starych drzew liściastych, pod odstającą, przegrzybiałą korą, w hubach, gniazdach ptaków drapieżnych, pod opadłym listowiem i w ściółce przy podstawie drzew.
