Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1992:
Gatunek europejski, zamieszkujący obszary w południowo-zachodnim zasięgu świerka. W Polsce bruzdkowiec południowy jest rzadko i sporadycznie spotykany, notowany z nielicznych stanowisk z zachodniej i południowej części kraju. Jedynym znanym żywicielem jest świerk. Opada dolne gałęzie obumierających drzew starszych oraz strzały drzew młodszych. Gatunek wielożerny. Obraz żerowania wieloramienny, podłużny, wyraźnie odbija się w bielu. Chodniki macierzyste długości do 20 cm. Chodniki larwalne rozstawione w odstępach 3-10 mm.
