Taxon description
Gatunek rozsiedlony głównie w środkowej i północnej Europie, w Fennoskandii sięgający daleko poza koło podbiegunowe, ponadto znany z nielicznych stanowisk we Francji, Włoszech i Siedmiogrodzie. W Polsce chrząszcz rzadko spotykany, znany zaledwie z kilku stanowisk. Znajdowany pod korą, drzew iglastych (świerk, sosna, jodła) zaatakowanych przez korniki. Występuje zwłaszcza w chodnikach larw kornika drukarza — Ips typographus (L.).
