Taxon description
Północna i środkowa Europa; dane z Europy zachodniej odnoszą się do podgatunku Plocamaphis amerinae bituberculata (Theobald, 1912).
Gatunek holocykliczny i jednodomny. Żeruje w dużych koloniach na gałęziach wierzby wiciowej — Salix vimmalis L., rzadziej wierzby białej — Salix alba L. i wikliny — Salix purpurea L.
