Europa: Niemcy, Polska, Węgry, Ukraina.
Gatunek holocykliczny i jednodomny. Żeruje na szyjce korzeniowej, liściach i na koszyczku kwiatowym dziewięćsiłu pospolitego — Carlina vulgaris L., odwiedzany przez mrówki.
