Taxon description
Heintze 1990:
Dość pospolity ten gatunek od V do VII. Gąsienice żerują od VI do IX na dębach, bukach, grabach, brzozach, leszczynie i innych drzewach i krzewach liściastych. Mocny oprzęd, przypominający kształtem oprzęd Earias chlorana, tylko znacznie większy, buduje gąsienica na gałęzi rośliny żywicielskiej, gdzie przebywa zimę w stadium poczwarki.
