Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 2000:

Gatunek europejski o nie ustalonym rozmieszczeniu ogólnym. Opisany ze Szwajcarii przed przeszło 160 laty, ale później powszechnie uznawany jako odmiana pospolitego gatunku Pterostichus nigrita (Fabricius, 1792). Dopiero K. Koch (1980, 1984) przywrócił rangę samoistnego taksonu. Dotychczasowe dane o jego występowaniu pochodzą z Danii, krajów Beneluksu, południowej Szwecji, Niemiec, Polski, Czech, Moraw i Słowacji; na pewno szerzej rozmieszczony, gdyż występuje wspólnie z Pterostichus nigrita (Fabr.) na tych samych stanowiskach. W Polsce znany z trzech krain na podstawie dawnych danych z ubiegłego stulecia oraz niedawno wykazanego stanowiska na Śląsku Górnym. Zasiedla bagna, torfowiska wysokie, lasy wilgotne i bagniste brzegi wód, zwłaszcza miejsca gdzie rosną turzyca — Carex L. i trzciny — Phragmites Adans.
