Gatunek jednodomny, zazwyczaj anholocykliczny. Polifag notowany z różnych roślin, najczęściej jednak z buraków i tulipanów w przechowalniach i kopcach. U nas znaleziony «koszeniem» oraz na szczawiku zajęczym — Oxalis acetosella L. Szkodnik buraków w przechowalniach i wektor wielu chorób wirusowych.
