Taxon description
Gatunek palearktyczny o niedostatecznie poznanym rozsiedleniu, gdyż do niedawna uważany za odmianę Saprinus semistriatus (Scriba), wykazywany dotychczas z północnej Afryki, południowej i środkowej Europy, Kaukazu, Azji Mniejszej i południowo-zachodniej Azji. W Polsce znany z nielicznych stanowisk. Według S. Mazura (1973c), choć brak udokumentowanych danych, występuje w całej Polsce. Warunki ekologiczne słabo poznane.
