Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1983:
Gatunek rozsiedlony w zachodniej i środkowej części Europy oraz europejskiej części ZSRR po Nowogród i Jarosław, notowany również z dwu południowych, prowincji Szwecji. W miarę posuwania się z zachodu na wschód coraz rzadziej spotykany. W Polsce chrząszcz nadzwyczaj rzadko znajdowany, znany z nielicznych stanowisk tylko w pięciu krainach. Zamieszkuje tereny nizinne i podgórza. Larwy żyją w wodach stojących i wolno płynących. Postacie dorosłe poławiane są od czerwca do połowy sierpnia na pobrzeżach wód, w lasach bagiennych, na moczarach i torfowiskach.
