Burakowski et al. 1992:
Ojczyzną tego gatunku jest Meksyk. Notowany w Polsce ogólnikowo ze Śląska na podstawie wzmianki sprzed przeszło stu lat oraz z Wrocławia sprzed 70, na pewno na podstawie zawleczonych okazów, podobnie jak do Wiednia w roku 1927 w korzeniach Ipomoea jalappa.
