Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1980:

Gatunek holarktyczny, rozpowszechniony w Europie od najdalszej północy aż do krajów śródziemnomorskich. Wszędzie pospolity. W Polsce występuje od Bałtyku aż po Tatry, nie notowany jednak z niektórych krain. Część danych faunistycznych może odnosić się do Sepedophilus marshami (Steph.) (A. Szujecki*). Żyje w murszu drzew dziuplastych, pod odstającą korą, zapleśniałymi gałęziami i chrustem oraz listowiem. Uważany za gatunek związany z grzybami nadziemnymi i hubami.
