Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1995:

Gatunek rozsiedlony głównie w południowej i wschodniej części Europy, docierający na północ do Austrii, Węgier, Słowacji, Polski i Brandenburgii; notowany ponadto z Maroka, Algierii, Bliskiego Wschodu i Azji Środkowej. W Polsce należy do wielkich rzadkości faunistycznych; jest znany tylko z trzech krain, przy czym dane sprzed przeszło stu lat o występowaniu na Mazowszu winny być potwierdzone nowymi materiałami. Omyłkowo wykazany z Zamojszczyzny (Tenenbaum 1913, 1923) na podstawie błędnie oznaczonego okazu Sibinia pyrrhodactyla (Marsh.). Zasiedla suche łąki, słoneczne zbocza i wydmy na obszarach nizinnych. Żyje na lepnicy wąskopłatkowej — Silene otites (L.) Web. Postacie dojrzałe ukazują się w maju i przeżywają do sierpnia. Larwy żerują w łodygach, wywołując na nich wrzecionowate lub cylindryczne wyrośla, długości około 10 mm i szerokości 5 mm. Przepoczwarczenie odbywa się w glebie.
